When Longevity Meets the Deep: My Experience with Gianluca Genoni
There’s something profound that connects scuba diving and longevity. An invisible thread woven through mindful breathing, body awareness, and the respect of one’s limits. It’s on this shared ground that I had the pleasure of meeting Gianluca Genoni—world-renowned freediving champion and, today, an advocate of healthy, conscious living.
The body as a tool
Together with Cerba HealthCare Italia, with whom I’ve collaborated for years while personally following the Longevity Program, we recorded two special video segments. These weren’t just about sports or performance—they were about prevention, future health, and quality of life.
In the first video, I had the opportunity to interview Gianluca—not only as an athlete who holds world records, but as a person who knows his body down to every single physiological reaction. His message is clear:
“My body is my tool, and to keep it performing well, I rely on regular checkups.”
He chose Cerba because, as he says, it’s the only healthcare provider in Italy offering a complete and accessible Longevity Program. And it’s not just for elite athletes—it’s a tool for anyone who wants to live better, longer, and with greater self-awareness.

Data that tells the future
In the second video, Gianluca receives and discusses his Longevity Report with Dr. Di Meo from Cerba. It’s a real and honest conversation, where numbers and insights turn into a roadmap for wellness.
They discuss systemic inflammation, cortisol levels, oxidative stress, and most importantly, what we can do today to improve our tomorrow. From the importance of sleep to the targeted use of Omega-3, from breathing techniques to balancing training and recovery—each recommendation is practical and actionable.
As Gianluca puts it:
“We often focus only on training, but we forget how essential it is to recover properly.”
Once again, the message is clear: longevity begins with prevention.

Diving, wellness, and self-awareness
Scuba diving is more than just a sport—it’s a lifestyle. It’s an inner journey where breathing becomes your guide and your body the compass. Its benefits run deep:
- It naturally reduces stress, isolating you from noise and daily distractions
- It strengthens cardiovascular health and physical endurance
- It trains mindful breathing, which helps in both performance and daily stress management
- It emphasizes the importance of regular medical checkups for safe diving
- It fosters community and connection, since diving is always done in pairs or teams
Those who love the ocean, love life. And taking care of your health is the first step to living it fully—whether you’re underwater or not.
Meeting Gianluca Genoni was much more than an interview
It was a powerful reminder: real wellbeing starts with listening to your body. Longevity isn’t just a dream—it’s a choice, one we make every day, starting with a single breath.
